Break Free from Binge Eating

A Holiday Season Support Group for Adults

Oct 27 - Dec 22, 2025 | Mondays from 6:30 - 7:30 PM | 222 N Person St, Raleigh, NC

Do you feel stuck in a cycle of overeating, promising yourself you’ll “be good” tomorrow, then ultimately repeating the pattern over and over again? You’re not alone. Many people struggle with feeling out of control around food, especially during the holiday season when stress runs high, food is everywhere, and there’s so much fearmongering about weight gain.

Our holiday binge eating support group is designed to help you break free from the binge-restrict cycle. No diets. No weight-loss goals. Just compassionate, evidence-based support for creating a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food. We’re a group of non-diet dietitians who specialize in intuitive eating and eating disorder recovery, and we’ve designed this group based on our experience working with hundreds of clients who struggle with binge eating.

Who this group is for

Adults (age 25+) of any gender identity who:

  • Often feel out of control around food and don’t understand why
  • Struggle with binge eating and restriction cycles
  • Have a history of trying various diets that may work for a while but always backfire in the end
  • Want to eat more intuitively but don’t know where to start
  • Would benefit from feeling in community with others who have similar struggles with food restriction and binge eating

If you’re working with a dietitian or therapist individually, it’s always a good idea to ask them if they think you would benefit from a group like this.

What this group offers

  • A supportive, in-person community of people who understand what you’re going through
  • Weekly education and discussion, led by a registered dietitian, to help you understand your own binge–restrict cycle
  • Tools to help you reconnect with hunger and fullness cues, challenge food rules, nourish yourself more confidently, and bring pleasure back to eating
  • Guidance on navigating the holiday season without falling into old patterns
  • Practical coping skills to help reduce shame, manage emotions, and end the familiar cycle of binge eating and food restriction
  • Light snacks during each group meeting (fruit, chips, granola bars, etc)
  • A free copy of The Emotional Eating, Chronic Dieting, Binge Eating & Body Image Workbook

Why now?

The holidays can feel especially overwhelming if you struggle with binge eating. From end-of-year stressors to endless food-focused events, it’s understandable that your eating might start to feel more out of control. Joining a group during this season means you’ll have weekly support, accountability, and strategies to help you feel more grounded.

FAQs about the Break Free From Binge Eating group

Is there a virtual option for this group?

No, we don’t currently offer the Break Free From Binge Eating group program virtually. All meetings take place at our Downtown Raleigh office at 222 N Person St, on Monday evenings. Participants must attend in person, as there’s no call-in option or recording.

We’d love to offer a virtual group in the future. If you’re interested in a virtual group, fill out this form so that we can gauge interest and schedule it at a time that works for the most people.

If you need support now, we’d be happy to work with you individually! Here’s more about our virtual nutrition counseling.

I’m having trouble signing up for the group through the link above. Is there another way to sign up?

Sorry about that! We’ve tried to make online sign-up easy, but there are always a few glitches. If you’d like to register for the group another way, you can email ad***@**************on.com or call us during business hours at 919-213-8979.

I want to join the group but I won’t be able to attend all 8 sessions. Is that OK?

While we encourage participants to attend all 8 sessions, we understand that everyone is busy (especially over the holidays!) and that things happen. There’s no “penalty” for not attending every session. All participants must pay the full $395 registration fee, regardless of how many sessions they attend, and no refunds will be offered after the start of the group.

I’m under 25 years old. Why can’t I sign up? Is there another similar group that I can sign up for?

We set a minimum age of 25 years old for this group in order to create the best possible group dynamic. We want group members to feel as much like peers as possible.

In the future, we’d love to run a group for folks under 18, and another one for people 18-24. If you’d be interested in a group like this, fill out this form so that we can gauge interest and schedule it at a time that works for the most people.

If you need support now, we’d be happy to work with you individually! Here’s more about our individual nutrition counseling.

The timing of this group doesn’t work for my schedule. Is there another time available?

Right now, this is the only group we’re running.

In the future, we’d love to run additional groups. If you’d be interested in this group at another time fill out this form so that we can gauge interest and schedule it at a time that works for the most people.

If you need support now, we’d be happy to work with you individually! Here’s more about our individual nutrition counseling.

I have an active eating disorder. Can I join this group?

This group is open to people with active eating disorders, although it won’t be a fit for everyone. It isn’t a substitute for individual nutrition counseling and therapy.

This group could be a fit for someone with binge eating disorder or another eating disorder that presents primarly as binge eating, as it provides support and community to help you break free from binge eating. If you currently work with a therapist or dietitian for binge eating disorder, ask them if you think you would benefit from this group. If you don’t currently work with a therapist or dietitian and think you have binge eating disorder, call our office at 919-213-8979 and we can talk to you about whether or not you might be a fit for the group, as well as what other types of support are available.

This group probably isn’t a good fit for someone with anorexia nervoxa or bulimia nervosa who is actively engaging in restrictive behaviors or purging behaviors. While binge eating can certainly be a symptom in these eating disorders, it isn’t usually the primary symptom. The topics of the group may not be appropriate for someone who is actively engaging in severe restrictive behaviors.

If you’re intersted in the group but unsure if it’s a fit, call our office at 919-213-8979 to talk it over.

Will food be provided?

Water and light snacks (like fruit, chips, and granola bars) will be provided during the group. Participants are free to bring their own food, although there will not be a table at which to eat during the group.
