Serena Hutchinson (she/her), MPH, RD, LDN, IBCLC is a dietitian who specializes in fertility, pregnancy and postpartum nutrition. She is also a lactation consultant and provides support for breast/chestfeeding parents and offers continual support through the introduction of solid foods. She takes a non-diet, weight-neutral approach to support families feel confident in nourishing their bodies through these stressful stages.

Her approach to fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum nutrition is individualized to emphasize the uniqueness of each family’s experiences and challenges. She believes that while the changes that occur with the body to create life are beautiful, it is accompanied by many stressors and challenges. She takes a compassionate approach in counseling individuals and couples on the many internal and external factors that impact their physical and emotional health through these stages.

Serena received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Psychology at Florida State University and continued on to complete her Master of Public Health in Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time at UNC she also completed the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute’s Pathway 2 Accreditation Program called the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Her passion for supporting growing families stemmed from Serena’s experiences of witnessing so much illness in her immediate family. From a young age she learned how poor health can negatively impact the lives of those beyond just the one experiencing illness. She also noticed how easily and frequently health is taken for granted. This sparked her drive to provide families with the knowledge, skills and support early to claim their potential in building health early. Serena’s mission is to not only support families in taking a preventative approach to health, but to also equip parents with the tools to raise children that have peaceful relationships with food and their body.

In her free time Serena loves playing all sports, especially soccer, playing board games, traveling, trying different ice cream spots, and spending time with friends or family.
